WEBQUEST: Reconnecting generations...




INTRODUCTION:
Technology has left a great mark on the lives of human beings in all generations. However, what is the influence of technology on people's interaction? How positive or negative is the effect that it produces in people's daily lives? The film “The Internship” contains some of these situations that will guide us discover and understand the impact of ICT in daily life and situations of inequality related to technology too. In this way, the project will help us to value the relationship between technology and society.
This webquest will help you to value the impact of ICT in daily life. It will also help you to recognise situations of inequity related to technology.

TASK:
You will have to create either a digital presentation (power point, prezi, canva, powtoon, emaze, glogster) or a mind map showing the group’s reflection on the discussion topics based on the evidence found in the film.

BACKGROUND:
* Comparative and Superlative Adjectives.
* Conditionals type 0, type 1 and type 2.
* Modals: Should, Would.
* Simple Tenses and Progressive/Continuous Tenses.
* Verb To Be.

PROCESS:
To complete the task you will follow these steps:
Step 1. establish the working group consisting of five students. Less than five is possible but more than five is not possible.
Step 2. Watch the film “The Internship” and take notes about characters, conflicts, contexts and technology.
Step 3. Use the resources to help you with relevant information related to each discussion topic.
Step 4. Solve the discussion topics taking into account the specific requeriments:


DISCUSSION TOPICS
Topic 1. Recognize the characteristics of each character on the list, taking into account both positive and negative. Then use the comparative adjectives and superlative adjectives theme to write two sentences, one in comparative form and another in superlative form, for each caracter:

Topic 2. Identify the characteristics of the Digital Natives, Digital Immigrants and Digital Illiterates. With this information, classify the characters on the list in any of these three styles. CHECK RESOURCE.

Topic 3. About the conflicts that occur between the characters in the film, describe an example that shows each of the following situations of inequality and / or inequity between digital natives and digital immigrants: 
          -from native to immigrants                               -from immigrants to natives
          -from natives to natives                                    -from immigrants to immigrants

Topic 4. Making use of the resource and the film, write five lessons that natives can teach to immigrants and digital illiterates about life with technology and 5 lessons that immigrants and digital illiterates can teach to digital natives about life without technology. Use the modal verbs would, should and the conditional 0, 1 and 2 for each lesson. CHECK RESOURCE.

Topic 5. Explain: which application, website or device do you consider beneficial and which one do you consider harmful to daily life. Argue the choice. CHECK RESOURCE.


Step 5. Create the digital presentation or mind map with the results.
Step 6. Prepare the oral presentation of the group’s work.

EVALUATION:
The deliverables of the project are the final document (digital presentation or mind map) and the oral performance, where each one represents 50% of the final grade. Each deliverable will be evaluated from the rubric.

CONCLUSION:

Thanks to this webquest, the team has considered the impact that technology can have on daily life and interpersonal and intergenerational relationships, especially from the basic individual characteristics, advantages and disadvantages and the conflicts that these criteria can generate. From now on, you will consider how technology can affect the concept of “need” and will critically consider that the respect for difference can be a life-long learning that will always be worthwhile.
